Manama, Bahrain – 10 January 2024: SULB, the first fully integrated light, medium, and heavy beams and structural steel sections producer in the Middle East region, is pleased to announce its incredible achievement of hitting record-breaking production numbers in 2023 across all sections in our plants! Melt Shop soared to 1.265 Million Tonnes, Direct Reduction Plant (DRP) hit an impressive 1.619 Million Tonnes, and Heavy Section Mill (HSM) achieved a remarkable target at 653,000 Tonnes. Moreover, Saudi Sulb achieved a new record of producing 411,000 tonnes of light and medium sections.

Formed as a joint venture between Foulath Holding (51% stake) and Japan’s Yamato Kogyo (49% stake) in 2009, SULB is the Middle East region’s fully integrated medium and heavy beams and structural steel sections producer.

SULB operates two plants in Hidd, Kingdom of Bahrain and Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabic. SULB produces 1.7 Mtpa of Direct Reduced Iron from iron ore pellets, 1.2 Mtpa of steel and delivers almost 800,000 tons of finished beams, angles and channels. Steel beams are required for the creation of infrastructure related to heavy industries like refineries, steel and petrochemical plants as well as in high rise buildings, bridges, airports, convention centres and other long span architecture.
